Marie earned a master's degree in speech language pathology and is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She has experience in a variety of healthcare settings including acute care, critical illness recovery, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) through the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists and a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional through the International Council of Certified Dementia Care Practitioners. She was awarded the 2022 Outstanding Alumnus Award from her alma mater, UW-Stevens Point.
Marie values education and hard work, beyond her formal education and has completed extensive continuing education earning the ASHA Distinguished Early Career Professional (DECP) certification and ASHA ACE Award six times for her continuing education efforts. Marie has volunteered for the Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Association (WSHA) and has presented at the annual WSHA convention. She has also served as the Fundraising Director for The Dysphagia Outreach Project, an organization dedicated to serving individuals with swallowing difficulties.
Marie specializes in traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury recovery with experience treating stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Primary Progressive Aphasia, and many other conditions. She is certified in the SPEAK OUT! program to help those with Parkinson's Disease strengthen their voices and in the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Protocol (MDTP), an exercise based-swallowing treatment for dysphagia.
Marie started her private practice to add value to the current community resources for post-acute care. Patients should have timely access to outpatient therapy services. Marie also provides mobile swallowing testing called Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and is a certified FEES endoscopist. Marie serves patients in their homes and supports local SLP’s in skilled nursing, home health, and inpatient rehabilitation offer timely swallow testing.
